Before filming, it was important that I understood the fundamental basics of the rules of film. For example, "not crossing the line" was an example of a rule which I needed to be aware of. The pictures below demonstrate an 'over the shoulder shot' , this type of shot is seen when people are conversing back and forth. The idea of not crossing the line means that when shooting a conversation scene, the camera must stay on the same side of each actor. If this is not done it will give the illusion th two people are standing NEXT to each other not OPPOSITE. This is a common mistake with amateur filmmakers therefore this workshop helped me to avoid mistakes like this. I also looked at things such as 'the rule of thirds' in terms of framing work and 'two shots'.
